Hospitalero Training
November 29-December 1, 2019
Victoria, BC

Thank you for your interest in training to be a hospitalero/a.  Over the past eleven years we have trained over 350 hospitaleros and more than 180 hospitalero positions on the Camino de Santiago have been staffed by Canadians. We guarantee that we will offer a weekend of fun, learning, and reinforcement of those things you learned and felt on the Camino.

If you would like to attend this training, please email Mary Virtue maryvirtue @ shaw.ca. The cost is $125  Please send a completed registration form and a cheque or internet transfer for this amount to Mary at 78 Linden Ave., Victoria, BC, V8V 4C8. This registration fee covers all materials, and all meals including Friday evening to Sunday lunch, but does not include Saturday dinner. Any money left after the expenses for the weekend will be donated to albergues in Spain. In the past we have donated to Rabanal and Miraz, which the Confraternity of Saint James in London, UK operates and  also Hospitaleros Voluntarios which posts volunteers to donativo albergues on the Camino.
Some folks will be coming from out of town and will require accommodation.  If you have room to billet a single or couple, please indicate below.

  1. Dear Mary and Daphne,
I would love to register for the November30 Dec 1 weekend in Victoria. I don't need to be billeted if I am allowed to stay with my niece, who lives in Victoria. But if you need me to stay with a hospitalero for the weekend, then that is fine as well.
    I have no food restrictions
I walked 450 km of the Camino in Sept October 2007 and finished it all but a few days in the Meseta just this May. It was a dream come true.
I would like to be a hospitalero to give back to the Camino. Both journeys were so life-affirming, full of spiritual connection, deep friendship and soul-satisfying. I have a friend who has taken the hospitalero training and we would hope for our first volunteer position in 2020 and I missed the spring training in Calgary. We both hope to volunteer for a half month in 2020, and ideally for years to come. Best wishes

  2. Hello...
I am very interested in the Victoria training in November. I live in Portland OR and am a member of APOC and the local Portlandia chapter. The training in Victoria would not only be closer to me than the November one in California, I love visiting Victoria.
Is the training open to US citizens?
Thank you so much for your response.

    Shelley
